IPL 2025, DC vs MI: Karun Nair and Karn Sharma create biggest impact in Match 29

On April 13, the Mumbai Indians easily defeated the Delhi Capitals by a slim margin of 12 runs at Delhi’s famed Arun Jaitley Stadium in IPL 2025 match 29. After winning four straight games, Delhi suffered their first defeat of the season, while MI only managed their second victory in six games. Nonetheless, Karun Nair and Karn Sharma were the two players who attracted attention and played a significant part in the match; they were both introduced as impact players and gave standout performances.

Karun Nair, who joined Mukesh Kumar as an impact player, came very close to pulling off a stunning performance in his first post-IPL 2022 match.

Karun, who came in after the team lost Jake Fraser-McGurk off the first ball, had an incredible innings, hitting 89 off 40 deliveries. After seven seasons, it was his first IPL half-century, which caused the selectors to take notice of him once more.

Karun, who gained notoriety for his Test triple century in 2016, has been vying for a spot in the national team’s squad thanks to an outstanding domestic campaign in which he led the team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20 Cup) and Vijay Hazare Trophy (List-A competition) and amassed well over 800 runs in the Ranji.

Nothing could have made the right-hander’s return to the league more memorable. He hammered Jasprit Bumrah for 18 runs in one over to complete his fifty in just 22 balls. His aggressive batting performance was a major factor in DC’s 72/1 standing at the end of the powerplay. When he and Abishek Porel combined for 119 runs, it was the franchise’s second-highest partnership for the second wicket or less against MI. However, a collapse that DC was unable to recover from was brought on by his removal at 89 in the 12th over.
