At the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday, April 27, the Delhi Capitals lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru by a margin of six wickets in their ninth IPL 2025 encounter.
The Delhi Capitals scored 162/8 in 20 overs after being put to bat. Tristan Stubbs scored 34 off 18 for the team, while wicket-keeper KL Rahul scored 41 off 39. The goal was later pursued by RCB in the penultimate over.
During the post-match press conference, Kevin Pietersen, the mentor of the Delhi Capitals, reflected on the game and stated, “We lost the toss.”
If we had won the toss, I believe we would have pursued as well. Getting the toss right was crucial. Batting, in my opinion, became a little bit simpler in the latter stages. Because the pitch was dry in the middle overs of the first innings, it was a little more difficult for us. The circumstances and the toss, in my opinion, simply did not work out well for us.
The former England cricket player commented, “As a team, we haven’t quite hit our perfect game yet,” in reference to the squad’s overall performance. We haven’t actually played the entire game, so I believe it’s more. Knowing that we haven’t truly reached our straps in every category, it’s excellent that we are sitting where we are with 12 points.
“The boys thought we could win tonight because of our winning records in the past, even though Bengaluru was nearly on the other side. Our ideal match hasn’t yet been played, but I do think it will come,” he continued.
In his remarks, Pietersen praised KL Rahul and the discussions he has had with the Indian batsman. “KL (Rahul) has been playing really well since the end of last year. We witnessed how he helped India win the Champions Trophy in Dubai. He and I have discussed batting in several really insightful exchanges.
After a day off, the Axar Patel-led team, which has 12 points from nine games and is now ranked fourth in the standings, will now play the Kolkata Knight Riders at Arun Jaitley Stadium.
