Kevin Pietersen, who used to play for England, talked about the chance of legendary Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni staying with the team for the next IPL season. Many people think that the 16th edition could be his last season in the IPL, but Dhoni hasn’t said anything public about it yet.
Notably, Dhoni did an emotional lap of honor at Chepauk after the yellow team’s last game there in the group stages. After seeing what was going on at the stadium, former player Kevin Pietersen said that the captain should stay with the team, no matter how old he is. He also said that Dhoni could still have a chance in the upcoming seasons because of the “Impact Player” rule.
“I believe everyone wants to go on. I think he can now see that the impact player is more important. He needs to get ready for this event. He can get some rest. He can try to figure out what’s wrong with his knee over the next two months. So what? “He is fit and an athlete,” Kevin Pietersen said on Star Sports.
He just needs to be MS Dhoni: Kevin Pietersen
Many fans stayed after the match against KKR ended just to see the player in person. Kevin Pietersen was amazed by how much love and respect there was for the 41-year-old captain. He praised Dhoni for being the person he is off the field and said that he just needs to be himself to keep playing the game.
“He must really like it. Why would he give this to someone else? He doesn’t have to do anything. He does not have to do anything. He just needs to be MS Dhoni. How amazing must this have been for his kids, his wife, and the rest of his family? “I’m enjoying watching this lap of honor,” he said.
“Look at how many people stayed behind to see him and try to touch him because of who he is. He is also a great person when he is not playing cricket. These are beautiful scenes and very sad times. This is such a nice thing to do,” Kevin Pietersen said.
