Khushdil Shah used a spectacular delivery to take out opposition captain Babar Azam for 46 off 41 balls in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 match between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings at the National Stadium in Karachi. Babar appeared poised to anchor and even speed up his team’s innings when he was dismissed.
Babar found his way back into form after initially battling against the bowling assault, smashing seven boundaries in his 41-ball stay. But Shah hit the middle stump with a faster, flatter delivery just as he appeared to be about to capitalise.
Babar was hit plumb in front while attempting to push it into the leg side. The seasoned batter promptly took a review, but he had to walk back only two runs short of his possible fifty, and the tracker showed three reds. After his ejection, Zalmi’s score at the end of the tenth over was 67/3.

The 30-year-old had narrowly escaped a near call on the second delivery he faced earlier in the game. The umpire raised his finger after Mir Hamza, a bowler for Karachi, produced a length delivery that swung in and struck the batter on the front pad. Babar won the review, though, since the ball tracking indicated it was only passing over the stumps. Walking in alongside Saim Ayub to open the innings after Kings won the toss and opted to field, the right-hand batter looked to make a statement.
He had been having a difficult time this season, scoring just 0 runs in his last three innings and 1 and 2 in his last four innings, for a total of just 49 runs thus far. Talking more about the game, Karachi Kings had the advantage by the 17th over, with Zalmi struggling at 118/6. In addition to Babar’s wicket, Khushdil had already claimed the wickets of Mitchell Owen and Tom Kohler-Cadmore.
