The Mumbai Indians broke their losing skid against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their most recent meeting at the Wankhede Stadium, winning three straight games to maintain their hopes of making it to the IPL 2025 playoffs.
After chasing down the target of 177 in just 15.4 overs, the Boys in Blue and Gold outperformed their opponents in the El-Clasico. The batting coach for MI, Kieron Pollard, discussed the team’s amazing triumph over the Yellow Army and shared one of his pregame motivational speeches. Given how MI played in the match, when they thrashed their opponents by nine wickets and hardly allowed them to mount a comeback, it appeared that this had been successful.
When the game first started, Mahela (Jayawardene) gave me a chance to talk to the boys. I told them, among other things, that I was tired of saying that Chennai had performed well in the previous several years.
As reported by India Today, Kieron Pollard remarked, “The way the guys went out today—very good.”
Though Rohit Sharma‘s game-winning knock on the day stole the show, Pollard also praised Suryakumar Yadav and discussed his significance as the franchise’s number three player and how his outstanding innings also significantly impacted the outcome of the game.
Naturally, Suryakumar Yadav was the person we wanted at number three. As many balls as possible are what we want him to encounter. But he’s deadly even while he’s behind it. We look for areas where he can have the most influence and to understand the opponents. The five-time IPL champion continued, “He reads spin so well against Chennai that he can control the field, sweep, reverse and dominate.”
