According to Sourav Ganguly, the match between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will go place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, just as planned. The previous president of the BCCI expressed his faith in the declaration made by the Kolkata Police and believed that the match would not be moved to Guwahati. Ganguly also reiterated his backing for the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League.
The IPL 2025 matchup between KKR and LSG is uncertain.
The match between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Lucknow Super Giants in the 2025 Indian Premier League has been unclear. The security plans for the match were unclear to the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) because of the Ram Navami festivities. To resolve the matter, the board apparently sent a letter to the BCCI. Interestingly, his statement drew reference to the tweet from the Kolkata Police confirming the safety precautions for April 6.
“Simply wait and see what occurs. Have you read the post from the Kolkata Police from yesterday? It is unlikely that the match will be moved. Additionally, News18 cited Ganguly as stating, “I’m rooting for the Delhi Capitals in the IPL.”
Possible match reschedule and Ram Navami festivities
The rumour that the match would be moved to Guwahati was denied by the former Indian batter. One of their executives stated that talks had been held with the Kolkata Police to guarantee sufficient security for players and spectators at Eden Gardens, even though the BCCI has not yet released an official statement.
The match between KKR and LSG, which falls during Ram Navami celebrations, raised security worries, according to a letter submitted by CAB President Snehasish Ganguly to the BCCI. He told reporters that it would be difficult to control a throng of more than 65,000 people without adequate police protection, and that Guwahati would be a suitable substitute location.
The Kolkata Police, however, removed all “misleading posts,” promising to be ready to provide security for the April 6 game. Ganguly thought the Kolkata Police could guarantee the fans’ safety and trusted their statement. Soon, there should be an official confirmation of the location.
