As KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer prepare to re-join the national team, India captain Rohit Sharma stated his opinion regarding their ailments. In order to return to the lineup for the international ICC tournament, both Rahul and Shreyas are healing from their injuries with less than two months until the eagerly awaited ODI World Cup.
Notably, Shreyas Iyer suffered a lower-back injury before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, which required surgery. As a result, he missed a few important games, including the ODI series against Australia and the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2021–23 final, and had to sit out those games. The same is true for keeper-batter Rahul, who has been sidelined ever since he sustained a thigh injury midway through the IPL 2023.
But the two athletes are working arduously at Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy (NCA) to get well in time for the important match in October. As a result, captain Rohit Sharma discussed their injuries, saying that it becomes more difficult following surgery.
“Shreyas and KL Rahul are returning after missing four months of action due to significant injuries, or rather operations.
Each had surgery. I am aware of how difficult it is to recover after surgery because I had to have it once. Rohit Sharma was reported by India Today as saying, “We have to observe what they do, how they react.
In a similar vein, speedster Jasprit Bumrah is on track to rejoin the lineup following a protracted absence due to a persistent back problem. The next three-match T20I series versus Ireland will feature the pacer.
Additionally, Jasprit Bumrah has been selected to lead the team as the series is set to start on Friday, August 18. The Men in Blue, meanwhile, will focus on the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup after the multi-format series against the West Indies is through.
