India and Australia have been putting a lot of effort into getting ready for the forthcoming ODI World Cup in 2023. The three-match ODI series between the two teams is currently underway, and both teams are hoping that the ODIs would serve as useful preparation for the major competition. India captain KL Rahul expressed a similar view prior to the second ODI. Rahul thought it was advantageous that the middle order of the team was tested in the first ODI when he commented after winning the toss. It gives the batters a lot of confidence, in his opinion, to complete the task for their side, he said.
“Challenging the middle order is healthy for them as well, and we were challenged in the Asia Cup, so it can happen. It is advantageous for all of our batters to spend some time in the centre and contribute to the cause of the group. We would be quite confident going into the major tournament, KL Rahul remarked.
We welcome the challenge of contributing a significant amount: KL Rahul
After winning the toss for the second ODI, Australia decided to bowl first. Rahul offered his opinion after reflecting on the situation, claiming that given the pitch, the Indian team would have preferred to bowl first. The hitters may find it to be a nice challenge to put up a high score, though.
“Given the size and heritage of the field, we also would have commenced with the bowling. Later, when the dew has a chance to settle, it becomes simpler to bat. To put a significant sum on board is a terrific challenge for us, KL Rahul said.
Australia will want to outdo their performance from the first ODI, which ended in defeat for the team at Mohali, now that the second ODI is well under way. They intend to keep the series going and will be led by Steve Smith in hoping that the same will not occur in Indore.
