On the first day of the Boxing Day Test, KL Rahul was outstanding at the bat for the Indian squad. Day 1 of the first Test of the two-match series saw India record 208/8 thanks to the 70* runs. The player, who was born in Bengaluru, scored off 105 deliveries when all the other batsmen were unable to muster any momentum. Zaheer Khan, a former cricket player, praised KL Rahul for his positive batting approach and expressed his belief that he may secure his place in red-ball cricket if he performs well with the gloves.
Notably, Rahul has missed a significant number of Test matches in the past few years because of a variety of injuries. Rishabh Pant has the chance to establish himself with the gloves, though, as he is presently sidelined. Zaheer Khan stated that, as he has performed well in the other two formats thus far, it will benefit his career to succeed in red-ball cricket at this time.
With the most runs scored, KL Rahul is positioned in the middle of the field. In an interview with Cricbuzz, Zaheer stated that Rahul “demonstrated a positive approach on Day 1,” which other Indian batters also noticed.
“While he has shown himself with the bat, it will be crucial to watch how he handles the gloves when India bowls. He can, however, secure his place in the Test squad. His history of injuries has forced him to miss a few games. At this point in his career, the more he plays in all formats, the better off he will be. He had a good World Cup, he continued.
Rahul will attempt to reach a hundred on the second day of the test, in the meantime. Day 1 concluded early due to poor light and rain, with India looking to put pressure on the host team by adding another 50 runs to the total. This series is very important for the Rohit Sharma-led team because India has never won a Test series in South Africa.
