With back-to-back victories under captain Axar Patel, the Delhi Capitals (DC) are off to a fantastic start in the IPL 2025. Mitchell Starc’s fifer and Faf du Plessis’ incredible half-century helped DC defeat the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by seven wickets.
Although the DC openers got off to a strong start, KL Rahul looked in form as he hit a few meaty blows off Mohammed Shami in the 11th over. The first six was a brilliant shot over the deep mid-wicket; he really judged the slower ball and hit it over the fence for a maximum.
It was an expensive over for Shami, as KL Rahul (15 off 5) hit two boundaries and one six in the same over.
Earlier in the match, the SRH bowlers were given the taste of their own medicine as du Plessis and Fraser-McGurk caused havoc on them. Throughout his innings, the Proteas hitter played smashes that surprised the threatening bowling attack. The star batsman blasted three boundaries and three sixes to score 50 runs in 27 balls. Jake, on the other hand, scored 38 runs off 32 balls with four boundaries and two sixes.
We had an amazing day: Mitchell Starc,
Zeeshan Ansari made multiple tries to help his team win the match and took three wickets in his SRH debut. The other bowlers did not, however, assist him. Mitchell Starc took home the ‘Player of the Match’ title for his outstanding bowling display.
“It has been a pleasant day. Overall, we were excellent. You have to hang for dear life in T20 cricket, therefore I don’t think there are too many egos. Finding leniency against hitters and trying new things are important. It went well today. (On failing to bowl full to get Head) I’ve been playing long enough to know what to do. You have to think creatively; even as an experienced player, you must bowl different balls. I am glad that worked out. “Joining a new, youthful group and making new friends with guys you haven’t played with is fantastic,” Starc stated during the post-game presentation.
