At the team supper, KL Rahul, the recently signed Indian sensation for the Delhi Capitals, stole the show by imitating the famous batting positions of vice captain Faf du Plessis and coach Kevin Pietersen. A late addition to the team following the birth of his daughter, Rahul was spotted showcasing his acting prowess during the team-building exercise prior to DC’s Sunday IPL 2025 matchup with Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Due to the recent birth of their first child with wife Athiya Shetty, Rahul was unable to play in DC’s inaugural game against the Lucknow Super Giants. The Capitals performed the cradle celebration in the dressing room following their exciting one-wicket victory over LSG to commemorate the joyous event despite his absence.
KL Rahul took part in the team’s special meal after arriving in Visakhapatnam.
His impersonation of Pietersen and Faf, however, swiftly gained popularity on social media. The Englishman’s unconventional batting position was initially mimicked by the Indian batter, who then mimicked his speech. “Can you guess, Mate?” With a broad smile on his face, the former England captain observed the impersonation. After that, the 32-year-old also adopted the former South African captain’s approach.

We’ve watched KP. We’ve seen Faf bat. We recommend KL mimicking them both

KL will, however, enter Delhi’s starting lineup for the forthcoming match. Sameer Rizvi, who had a poor performance against Lucknow after dropping Nicholas Pooran’s catch and then being removed with the bat after only four runs, is anticipated to be replaced by him.
Furthermore, Rahul will be a vital addition to the already formidable DC team after being purchased for INR 14 crore in the mega-auction. In the previous edition, Rahul was leading the Lucknow-based franchise and scored 520 runs in 14 innings, including four fifties. Even though the team won seven of their 14 games, they finished in seventh place and were unable to advance to the playoffs.
