The Delhi Capitals’ franchise captain for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season is Axar Patel, a star all-around player. Prior to the massive auction, former captain Rishabh Pant was released, which led to this choice. Axar, who has been an essential part of the club since 2019, was paid ₹16.50 crore by the team before the auction.
Fans and comrades have praised the announcement in large numbers. Interestingly, KL Rahul, who DC purchased for ₹14 crore at the most recent auction, congratulated Axar from the bottom of his heart. On DC’s official Instagram post announcing the captaincy, Rahul left a comment. The two athletes’ respect and friendship are demonstrated by this gesture.
“Bapu, congratulations. “Best wishes for this journey and always by your side,” Rahul posted on his official Instagram account.
Given that he showed his all-around skills in the last IPL season by taking 11 wickets at an economy rate of 7.65 and scoring 235 runs at an average of almost 30 runs per game, Axar was likely the best choice for DC to be named captain. His recent performance in the Champions Trophy demonstrates both his talent and the selectors’ faith in him.

Delhi Capitals captain, you have my utmost respect. I am confident in my ability to guide this team. The Axar Patel
Following extensive deliberation, the DC management decided to name Axar Patel captain. KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis, two more seasoned players, were also considered for the position. However, by choosing Axar, who has considerable familiarity with the dynamics and culture of the squad, the franchise chose continuity and internal leadership growth.
“I am really appreciative to our owners and support staff for believing in me, and it is a true honor for me to be captain of the Delhi Capitals. “I feel ready and confident to lead this side going forward,” Axar said, expressing his thanks and delight at heading the club. “During my time here at the Capitals, I’ve grown as a cricketer and a human being.”
