Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh believes that Pakistan captain Babar Azam has a long way to go before reaching the same level as Virat Kohli as a batsman. The intense competition between India and Pakistan in cricket sparks a social media conflict between the fan bases of Kohli and Babar.
Fans of cricket frequently make comparisons between the Pakistan captain and the Indian batting virtuoso. Due to their mutual respect, both of these batting greats have been observed adoring one another on numerous occasions in the past.
Harbhajan believes that Kohli has already cemented his position among the all-time greats, whereas Babar has a long way to go.
Despite Babar’s notable performances, many former players consistently select Kohli due to his international cricket experience and frequent performances on the biggest stages. Harbhajan also believes that Azam should enhance his T20 batting abilities.
Singh states on his YouTube channel, “Virat Kohli has already etched his name among the elites, whereas Babar Azam is still in the infancy of his path to glory. He possesses exceptional ability and will inevitably reach the pinnacle. Although he triumphs at Test cricket, Twenty20 may not be his preferred format.
Former Pakistan paceman Shoaib Akhtar, affectionately known as the Rawalpindi Express, reiterated similar sentiments regarding the comparison between Kohli and Babar alongside the legendary Indian spinner’s statement during the discussion on his YouTube channel.
Akhtar praised Babar’s development in the shortest version of the game and criticised the excessive severity of his critics.”Virat Kohli is unquestionably the finest, and Babar Azam is on his way to becoming one of the greatest batsmen of all time. He is attempting to enhance his T20 performance. People target him without justification,” added Akhtar.
India and Pakistan have two imminent contests in 2023: the upcoming Asia Cup and the highly anticipated ODI World Cup matchup. The archrivals’ ODI World Cup match is scheduled for October 15 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, but the Asia Cup schedule has not yet been released.
