The semi-final matches of the T20 World Cup 2026 will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
There has been no formal notification about where the final will be played.
The competition will be hosted jointly by India and Sri Lanka. The previous competition in which both boards co-hosted was the 2011 ODI World Cup, with Bangladesh serving as the third host country that year. The International Cricket Council recently announced eight venues for the matches, which will take place in February and March next year.
Reports that in addition to Ahmedabad and Kolkata, matches would be held in Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai as well. In Sri Lanka, the SLC has selected Colombo and Kandy as host cities. Both the SCC and the RPS will host games in Colombo. The location of the summit clash will be determined by whether or not Pakistan is among the finalists. If they do not qualify, it will be held in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
If Sri Lanka or Pakistan advance to the semi-finals, the match will be played in Colombo. If neither of the two teams advance to the final four, both matches will be played in India. If the Men in Green make it to the final, they will play in Colombo rather than any of the Indian locations.
A press release from the International Cricket Council last month stated that the 20-team tournament will be played in the same format as the 20-over event played in 2024. There will be four separate groups comprising five teams each. Other than the 13 Test-playing nations, Canada, Netherlands, the UAE, Nepal, Oman, and Namibia will feature as well. Italy, too, will be making their debut at the global tournament.
The group stage will be followed up with the Super Eights phase in which there will be two groups with each group made up of four teams. India won the previous edition played in USA and West Indies by getting the better of South Africa in the final. Sri Lanka had finished third in their group and failed to make it to the next stage. As per, the ICC will be expected to be out with the schedule and groupings in the coming days.
