The last time we saw Kuldeep Yadav, the star leg spinner, playing for India was in October 2024. He played in the opening Test match against New Zealand, but he never made it back to the starting lineup. Kuldeep was eager to rejoin the Indian squad since, following Yuzvendra Chahal’s expulsion from the prospects, he was once the favorite spinner in all formats. He missed plenty of time to heal from a groin injury he suffered following the New Zealand Test, for those who are unaware.
Nonetheless, he was named in both the Indian squad for the ODI series against England and the Champions Trophy 2025 squad. Following a recent update on his recuperation, the spinner was included to Uttar Pradesh’s (UP) team for the Ranji Trophy 2024–25 match against Madhya Pradesh (MP) at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore, which is scheduled to begin on January 30.
It takes a team to recover. “Thank you for all of the hard work behind the scenes, National Cricket Academy (NCA) and its team,” Kuldeep wrote on X.
Notably, MP and UP are not eligible to advance to the quarterfinals. In order to prepare for the England series, Kuldeep will have a fantastic opportunity to test his bowling following surgery in this match. He was a key member of India’s 2023 World Cup and 2024 T20 World Cup teams and will spearhead the spin attack against the visiting England.
