The Women’s Player of the Year award went to Captain Laura Wolvaardt at the Cricket South Africa awards, which took place on Thursday, September 6. The 25-year-old concluded the 2023–24 season as South Africa Women’s top run scorer in both ODIs and T20Is. In the Test match against India in Chennai, she also scored a century.
In addition to being named Player of the Year, Wolvaardt won four more honours: Player of the Year for the Women’s T20 International, Player of the Year for One-Day International, Player of the Year for the Players, and Player of the Year for the Fans.
Men’s Player of the Year went to Marco Jansen of the Proteas, an all-around player. The teenage cricket player, who took 17 wickets in the match, was crucial in assisting South Africa to advance to the ODI World Cup 2023 semifinals.
The winner of the ODI Player of the Year award is Quinton de Kock. In the ODI World Cup, he amassed the highest run total by a South African international player with 594. Keshav Maharaj was selected as the Players’ Player of the Year, while Reeza Hendricks won the T20 Player of the Year award.
The International Women’s Newcomer of the Year and International Men’s Newcomer of the Year were awarded to Eliz-Mari Marx and David Bedingham, respectively.
Marizanne Kapp is named the season’s best ball.
Marizanne Kapp, an all-round player, won the season’s best ball title. The cricket player’s win was aided by her brilliant dismissal of Beth Mooney in South Africa’s opening One-Day International against Australia. Masabata Klaas received the Makhaya Ntini Power of Cricket Award in the meantime. The cricket player took a three-year sabbatical from the game to become a mother, and she just made a legendary return.
