Arshdeep Singh recently credited Jasprit Bumrah for the way he bowls. Arshdeep is now India’s highest wicket-taker in Twenty20 Internationals. Barring a few bilateral series, Arshdeep and Bumrah bowled in tandem with a high success rate at the T20 World Cup 2024, when both achieved great success and played an important role in the Men in Blue’s victory.
Arshdeep Singh also laughed about Bumrah’s apparent ability to bowl yorkers on demand at any time.
The left-armer also said that he admires Wasim Akram’s bowling style and the way he used to bowl in montage movies on YouTube.
“So the vending machine or whatever the highest level is, it goes to Jassi (Jasprit Bumrah) bhai. That goes to him. After that yes, if you press the yorker button in such a vending machine if the ball falls somewhere close, if the batter gets out or does not go for a six, then yes, you can put me in that. So all the credit goes to Jassie bhai for the way I bowl,” he said on Breakfast with Champions.
“All left-arm pacers that are there on YouTube, I don’t think I’ve missed anyone’s video yet. If I used to watch yorkers, I really liked Wasim Akram’s compilation video. In all the videos, he was hitting only the stumps. A lefty throwing these in-swings in reverse swing to a righty, I used to enjoy it a lot,” he added.
Arshdeep recently starred in an Asia Cup 2025 clash against Sri Lanka in the Super Over in which he wonderfully bowled to concede only two runs along with picking up a couple of wickets. He is considered as an ace bowler for India in the 20-over format, which can be testified by his stats that make him the only bowler for India with 100-plus wickets in the shortest form of the game.
Arshdeep is coming off a couple of India A matches against Australia A. He picked up a three-wicket haul (3/38 in 10 overs) during the third unofficial ODI in Kanpur on October 5.
