Lisa Sthalekar, a former cricket player from Australia, believes that India will compete in the women’s T20 World Cup 2024, which is scheduled to start on October 3, at the very least through to the semi-finals. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led team takes against New Zealand in their first match on October 4. After that, they take on Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Australia in the group round, with the top two teams moving on to the semifinals.
Australia and England have very strong squads, according to Sthalekar’s analysis, and she believes they will make it to the semifinals. The 45-year-old stated that India’s team has good depth and respectable bowlers who would enable them contend for the championship. She brought up the middle-order’s concern and mentioned that she was anxious to find out how Jemimah Rodrigues performed in the major competition.
“Since Australia wants to win their fourth straight title, I see them in the semifinals. England had a robust build-up leading up to the event. At the ABC – International Development’s five-day cricket commentary and mojo program at the Australian good Commission, Sthalekar told a small group of journalists, “I expect India to be in the semifinals, if not in the finals. Their chances are also very high.”
India will be in a strong position if its 4–7 number hitters can score at a high strike rate. They have power, depth, and respectable bowlers. The openers must get them off to a strong start. Recently, Jemimah Rodriguez performed admirably in the West Indies (in the CPL). Seeing how she does in the WC will be interesting to see, the woman continued.
The game may be won by any Indian hitter in the top order if they reach a century: Lisa Sthalekar
She also recalled how India defeated Australia by 17 runs in the 2020 T20 World Cup thanks to Poonam Yadav’s four wickets. She thinks that the Indian team has a strong bowling unit to win if any of the top order batsmen perform well.
For example, Poonam Yadav upset the Australian middle-order in the opening match of the 2020 T20 World Cup by taking four wickets.

That match was won by India by 17 runs. “They can take the game away if any Indian top order batter reaches a century or if bowlers have a good day,” the speaker stated.
