That's all we have from this match! Hobart Hurricanes gathered maximum points from this encounter and are now sitting handsomely on top. On the other hand, Melbourne Renegades have now suffered two comprehensive losses on the bounce and need to do a bit of soul-searching. Next up, Sydney Sixers will be in action on Sunday, 20th December as they take on Adelaide Strikers at 1110 am local (1210 am GMT). We look forward to your company again. Cheers!
BEN MCDERMOTT IS THE MAN OF THE MATCH! Says that form is definitely a thing for him at the moment and he would like to keep riding it as long as he can. Tells that he missed the first two games but it's nice to come back and enjoy his cricket. Shares that they will be in Brisbane for the Christmas.
Despite starting on the front foot by picking two early wickets, Melbourne Renegades failed to drive home the advantage. Their bowling performance faded away and they lacked control in the middle overs. Debutant Noor Ahmad impressed the most and had he got Colin Ingram for a golden duck, things could have been different for the Renegades. But that was not meant to be as the umpire declined the appeal and with no DRS available, the South African survived to play a key part in his stand with Ben McDermott.
Chasing a middling target, it could have been tricky for the Hurricanes after losing two early wickets but the presence of Ben McDermott ensured that there were no major hiccups. He once again was in dominant form and hammered an unbeaten 89 off just 55 balls. His knock was studded with seven 4s and 5 towering sixes and it deflated the Renegades. The partnership that Ben formed with Colin Ingram nearly sealed the deal for them and the remaining work was done by Tim David who came up with yet another quickfire knock.
A comfortable win in the end for Hobart Hurricanes as they win with 14 balls to spare! Third win for them in this season and they move to the top in the points table.
