Right then, that is it from this one-sided affair where Durbar Rajshahi make it three wins in a row brushing aside bottom-placed Sylhet Strikers. We have a one-day break and then Bangladesh Premier League 2024/25 will return on 29th January, Wednesday. First, it will be Rangpur Riders taking on Chittagong Kings at 1 pm IST (7.30 am GMT). Then Fortune Barishal will be up against Dhaka Capitals at 6 pm IST (12.30 pm GMT). But as you know, you can always join us early for all the build-up to both matches. Until then, cheers and goodbye!
Taskin Ahmed, the victorious skipper of Durbar Rajshahi says that the last few games were all much needed and crucial for them where players and management wanted and played to just win it. Adds that they have done well as a whole group. Mentions that the wicket wasn’t that bad when this chase became difficult for them as they lost a few wickets upfront but Ryan and Akbar did well in that partnership. Says that chasing 118 isn’t that hard and they are happy that they have done with some balls to spare. Talks about the bowling performance of his team as he was happy and expected the bowlers to step out of their comfort zone to make this happen.
SM Meherob is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his sensational bowling spell. He says that he always tries his best but it does not come off every day, and he is happy with his performance here. Adds that his plan was to bowl as many dots as possible to build pressure. Mentions that he varied his pace along with his line and lengths which helped him despite it being difficult to grip with all the dew.
Ariful Haque, the captain of Sylhet Strikers says that when they picked up four wickets early, they thought they would win but it was the same old story again as they failed to capitalise on it. Adds that if they had scored a few ore runs, things could have been different as it is really difficult to defend such a low score. End by saying that they still have one game left and will give their best to win and end on a high.
Sylhet Strikers fall short despite a spirited fight! Zakir Hasan’s steady knock and late hits from Ahsan Bhatti and Sumon Khan gave them a below-par total, as SM Meherob shone with a sensational 4/15, supported by Mrittunjoy Chowdhury’s three-wicket haul for Durbar Rajshahi. While defending, Jon-Russ Jaggesar and Tanzim Hasan Sakib struck early to create drama, and Bhatti added a late breakthrough, but the target was too small to defend. A valiant effort, but the game slipped away!
Chasing a modest target, they stumbled early, losing four wickets inside the Powerplay, including key players Anamul Haque and Yasir Ali. But Akbar Ali and Ryan Burl rose to the occasion, crafting a gritty 75-run stand to steady the ship. Though Ali fell for a valiant 43, Burl’s unbeaten 48 ensured a calm finish, sealing the win with over three overs to spare.
Durbar Rajshahi makes a big push towards the playoffs! A crucial win secures two vital points, and now they move to the third spot in the table. They have done what they could, but now will have to wait and hope that a few other results go their way. Sylhet Strikers despite showing early promise, fall short yet again and remain rooted at the bottom.

STRATEGIC BREAK! The Durbar Rajshahi need 10 runs in the last 24 deliveries. Ryan Burl is expected to take this home for his team as quickly as possible.
