That's it from today's double header. Just a recap if you missed the action, in the first game Trinbago Knight Riders won their 7th consecutive game of this season by beating Jamaica Tallawahs. In that game, Colin Munro was the Man of the Match and in the second one Guyana Amazon Warriors won against Barbados Tridents where Naveen ul Haq was the player of the match. We have more cricket coming on 2nd September 2020, first up Trinbago Knight Riders take on St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots which begin at 1000 local (1400 GMT) and in the second one St Lucia Zouks take on Guyana Amazon Warriors which begins at 1730 local (2130 GMT). Hope to get your company for that games too. Until then, cheers and goodbye!
Guyana Amazon Warriors skipper, Chris Green says he is happy with the team's performance. Adds the bowlers bowled well and did well to restrict the Tridents under 100. Mentions the batsmen did really well to chase it down. Praises Naveen for executing his plans well.
Barbados Tridents skipper, Jason Holder says that it definitely hurts when you lose. Adds it has been back-to-back losses for them from the last two games. Mentions the wicket was tough to bat but the batsmen should have done better. Holder also says they will take it as a challenge and look to perform better in the next match.
Naveen-ul-Haq is named the Man of the Match. He starts by saying that he is happy with his performance and it is great to contribute to a win. Mentions they would look to perform better with every game. Naveen also says that spinners do the job for them usually. Mentions it is better to finish on a role.
Earlier in the game, Jason Holder opted to bat despite knowing his batsmen were under the pump for their poor show. What resulted was a poor batting display. If not for Mitchell Santner's 36 runs off 27 balls, Tridents could have ended much below of what they managed. Warriors were on song with the ball as they kept on chipping with wickets at regular intervals and pegged the Tridents on the back foot. Stay tuned for Presentations as we see who gets the player of the match award followed by both the captains interviews.
What to talk about Barbados Tridents, their bowlers did not have enough in their purse to negotiate. Despite that they got two wickets but to win matches you need to first put up a healthy total on board for your bowler to work with but Tridents faltered which meant that their bowlers would just be under pressure and could only delay the inevitable.
A sheer one sided affair is what we have witnessed. Chasing 93 was never going to put Guyana under any sort of trouble until and unless they themselves created some ruckus but Tridents could only wait and wait and wait for the Warriors to commit a mistake and give away the advantage to the opposition. Brandon King played a perfect role of an anchor and agressor as he helped the team sail off to safer shores with his matured innings. Though Guyana lost their star striker Shimron Hetmyer early, King led the charge and in the company of Nicholas Pooran took his team home.
