That is all we have for you from this game. Monday sees game number 25 of this BBL, with the Sydney Thunder taking om Brisbane Heat at the Sydney Showground Stadium. Join us for that at 7.10 pm local (0810 GMT). ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
D'ARCY SHORT HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH.
Not a great bowling or batting display by The Scorchers. Or fielding. They dropped as many as 5 catches, all of D'Arcy Short and he made them pay with a century. With the bat, they were barely in the chase with their top order blown away. They now go beneath the Heat and are on 7th now in the points table.
One needs to remember that the Hurricanes were a bowler down, with Riley Meredith leaving the field after just 2 overs. Scott Boland did well on Hurricanes debut while Qais Ahmad strut his stuff. The Hurricanes now move to 5th spot, with 6 points in as many games.
Hmmm... a game which went quite closer than anticipated. Once Hobart got 180 on the board, it looked a very big total and when the Scorchers were 18/3, victory just seemed a formality. But captain Mitchell Marsh and Cameron Green revived the game a touch and Jhye Richardson's cameo gave some false hope. In the end, the Hurricanes won but this small margin loss would have helped the hosts a touch.

IN THE AIR... NO ONE TAKES IT! Tea pots boiling. The bowler is not happy at all. A length ball, around middle, Richardson swings this high in the air and has not got any distance on it. Long on gets across while mid off runs back. Now, Caleb Jewell at long on feels that mid off will take the catch and does not attempt. The ball lands near the feet of Jewell. Two runs taken.

DIRECT HIT WOULD HAVE HAD JHYE. A length ball, outside off, Kelly looks to flick but gets a thick inside edge onto his pads. The ball lands just beside the pitch and the batsmen go for the quick single. Ellis runs towards the ball, picks it up, dives and has an under-arm shy at the striker's end but misses. Richardson was gone for all money.
Matthew Kelly walks in at number 10, replacing Agar.

OUT! CAUGHT! That is a stunning catch and a big wicket from Caleb Jewell. A low full toss, on off, Marsh heaves this across the line but is not quite able to get any elevation. The ball flies towards deep mid-wicket but dips onto the fielder. However, Caleb Jewell keeps his eyes on the ball, charges in and takes a very good catch, inches above the ground! The crowd is silenced and that, probably, is the game. Marsh departs for a well-made 48 but with 52 needed from 22 balls, you know where this is heading...

Now, 180 is a very good total. Hurricanes have star-studded bowling attack that comprises Riley Meredith, Qais Ahmed and Simon Milenko who are in form. At the same time, Scorchers' batting has not lived up to the expectations so far. Let's see how things pan out in the run chase. Join us in a while.
As far as the bowling from Scorchers' are concerned, they started well but they could not do good in the death overs. Till the 15th over, the bowlers kept things tight but could not get wickets. Livingstone and Ahmed were the only two bowlers with the wicket. The bowlers will feel let down by their fielders as they spilled chances thrown at them.
Second BBL ton and a blitz from Short in the final 5 overs means that the Hurricanes have an above par total to defend. 76 runs came in the last 5 overs as Short pummeled every bowler. He rode his luck as well as he was put down 5 times by the Scorchers' fielders, with Tim David giving him life twice. The Southpaw made them pay for the poor effort and have taken his side towards a very good first innings total. The start for the Hurricanes was slow as he along with Jewell added 69 runs in 10.3 overs. After Jewel's wicket, Miller joined Short and added another slow 42-run stand. Short though teed off in the final 5 overs during the unbeaten stand of 69 runs with his skipper McDermott.

SIX! HUNDRED FOR D'ARCY SHORT! First to get to triple figures this season and second for Short in the BBL. Jordan looks to go for the yorker but misses it by just a fraction. He ends up bowling it very full, just on leg stump and Short gets across and under this one, in the nick of time. Paddles it over short fine leg and the ball clears the ropes! The umpires check whether it is a four or a six but replays show that the ball has tipped over. HURRICANES FINISH ON 180/2!

FIVE WIDES! Boy, that is not exactly a bad ball from Jhye. He sees Short back away to the leg side and follow hm. But the length is way too short and the ball shoots up after pitching. Poor Josh Inglis dives full stretch to his right and gets a glove to it, but still parries it to the fine leg fence.

DIRECT HIT WOULD HAVE HAD MCDERMOTT THERE. But Marsh does not throw. Full and outside off, Ben drives it straight to cover and takes off for a suicidal single. FOUR! SAVE YOUR FACE! Fawad is stunned. Poor Short goes across and consoles him. Full on middle, Short comes down the track and hammers it straight back. 'CATCH' is the call from Inglis, the keeper. But the bowler is saving his own life, ducking just in time. He cannot believe what has happened, as he might be feeling that death just passed him by a few inches. It is a terrible feeling and he takes a while to get going. The ball races down to the long on fence.
