VICTORIOUS INDIAN CAPTAIN ROHIT SHARMA IS NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. First, his interview is as a captain. On being asked about Sundar and Chahal, Rohit says that they are very smart, having played lot of domestic cricket and adds that they analyze well, asking the bowling coach how to improve. Praises Sundar for adjusting to be bowling outside the Powerplay. On his changing emotions, Sharma says that he is an emotional guy and some of the moments in the field were scrappy, which need to be accepted and corrected. Now, his interview as a batsman. Rohit says that Rajkot is always a good track to bat on, with dew coming at the end. So, he says that it was all about doing well at the start, in the Powerplay and then carrying it through. Stresses that he only tries to do his best with the bat in hand and does not take any opposition for granted. Adds further that with the ball not swinging, he just focussed on staying still. Believes that 2019 has been a wonderful year and wants to finish it off well.
Bangladesh captain, Mahmudullah, admits that it was a very good wicket to bat upon and Bangladesh fell short by 20-30 runs. Praises Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan for the blistering start they gave. On Bangladesh's problems against leg spin, Mahmudullah just says that the wicket suited leggies and Chahal bowled well. Praises Aminul Islam for bowling well and hopes he continues doing well. On the positives from this game, the captain says that if they get a similar wicket in Nagpur, the batsmen need to be more positive.
Yuzvendra Chahal says that when he bowled his first ball, he realized that the wicket was spinning, so the variation of pace was the only thing which had to be taken. On the dew coming making life difficult, Chahal says that they knew when dew would come, so they were well prepared. On the catches going down, Chahal says that he himself has dropped a few catches, so he is aware how the fielder would be feeling at the moment. On the trap to get batsman out, Yuzi says that his bowling depends on how the batsmen will be playing Chahal. On being given to bowl in the Powerplay, Chahal says that bowling at the death or in the Powerplay gives a bowler immense confidence.
Earlier in the game, it was the spinners who choked Bangladesh. Sundar and Chahal did not give the visitors much to work with and they fell well short of what would have been a competitive score. Here is Chahal talking to Harsha Bhogle.
The 118-run stand for the opening wicket coming in 65 balls was just the tone India needed. This is what they missed in the previous game. Here, they got the start and hammered the bowlers. None of the bowlers were spared with the exception of Aminul Islam who got both the batsmen. With the dew around, Bangladesh could not do much and they just caved in.
As expected, an easy win for the hosts. Rohit Sharma's 85 just made it very easy. Chasing 154, with dew around, Sharma made sure that there were no second thoughts on how to approach the chase as he just attacked from the word go.

Sundar says that he is very happy to have restricted Bangladesh to 153 as India believe that par was around 180. On the secret of his own consistency in T20s, Sundar says that he just sticks to his own strengths and keep things simple. Adds that he is looking forward to more of the same. Stresses that change of pace and hitting the right areas - as in back of length, are his strengths which have proved to be fruitful for him over the years. Adds that he would need to be clear about what he wants to do but also has to think about what the opposition batsman would be aiming to do.
Full marks to the Indian bowlers barring Khaleel Ahmed. Take out his bowling figures and Bangladesh might not have even got to 130. Every other bowler was frugal but the mistakes in the field let them down. They are actually lucky that Bangladesh did not make use of those - else figure this out. A stumping reprieve, a dropped catch, plenty of fumbles, overthrows - a good opposition would have probably got to 200. Yuzvendra Chahal was the man who applied the brakes, with 2/28 in 4 overs while Sundar was excellent with his 1/25 in 4 overs. Here is the latter, talking to Laxman Sivaramakrishnan.
An innings which never got any momentum. Both teams started poorly, with India making a plethora of mistakes in the field. But then, Das got dismissed and that opened the floodgates. 60/0 became 103/5 in the span of 35 balls and the visitors simply could not get any chance to accelerate. Four batsmen got starts but could not quite take it deep.
What is the verdict? 50 runs short, says one of our senior colleagues. Superb bowling by India. The dew is already seen present, so they will be very happy with this.

Bangladesh captain, Mahmudullah, does not believe that toss is too big a factor here as he feels that the ball will come onto the bat nicely, but also feels that his batsmen need to put up a big total on the board. On the elusive series victory, Riyadh agrees that it is a great opportunity for all the players, especially the youngsters to express themselves and hopes that they do well. He too, says that Bangladesh are unchanged from their previous game.
Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma, says that it looks a good pitch, as always is the case in Rajkot. Sees a few cracks but is not too bothered. Expects dew towards the end of the game which should make life easier for the batters. On India's not-so-good record while defending totals, Rohit says that he is not too perturbed with the stats and is only looking to try new things. However, he adds that he has a young squad with him and his main aim is to win, trying to make his players comfortable. Informs that India are unchanged from their previous game as he believes that the performance was right up there, except for a few overs at the death.

PITCH REPORT - Sunil Gavaskar reckons that this is a very good pitch to bat on. Observes that there are some cracks but they will come into play only for a 4-day or a 5-day game, not for a T20. Is not too sure though about the outfield due to the rain, but believed that plenty of runs are on offer from the pitch. Believes that 170-180 should be the avarage score at this venue but the teams have to bat well.
A shock it was for all Indian or Bangladeshi supporters in Delhi. Bangladesh beating India? Wow. That is a shocker. How will the hosts bounce back tonight? Or will the visitors be able to carry on the momentum from the previous game? India need to focus on how to approach the game should they bat first while Bangladesh can just focus on how to thwart the Indian challenge. A warm welcome to the second T20I between India and Bangladesh in Rajkot. It is a do or die match for the hosts as the series could be decided here.
