Craig Ervine says everybody is ecstatic, all of them are putting in the hard work and it's paying off. Admits winning the toss was key today. Tells Curran's inning shows it's important to set a platform at the top for others to play their natural game. Feels the players showed a lot of composure in this series despite playing a must win game.
Paul Stirling says they were 30 runs short but were happy with the total. Mentions they failed to catch in at the backend, they still had a chance to defend but credits the way Zimbabwe played. Feels the hosts bowled really well.
Brian Bennett wins the PLAYER OF THE SERIES AWARD. He says he is doing his best for the team. Shares he likes batting at the top, he prefers to open. Mentions he learned to stay out for the longer period of time.
Ben Curran is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH. He says it's an unbelievable feeling and is happy to contribute. Mentions that it wasn't smooth enough in the first two games, the pitch were similar in all three matches but it was easy to bat on today. Tells it is a proud feeling to represent Zimbabwe.
...Presentation...
The bowling just wasn’t up to the mark for the visitors. They just didn’t turn up for a must win game. First, they lacked intent with the bat and then with the ball too, it was quite ordinary. They were outplayed by Zimbabwe who were really up for this game. A rather one sided game. A dull affair to be honest by a side like Ireland who were expected to put on a good show but not to be. A lot to ponder upon after losing in such a manner.
A very comfortable win for the hosts to seal the series. They take the ODI series with an emphatic victory. Something around 240 was well below par and Zimbabwe have chased it quite easily. The openers got them off to a very good start. Brian Bennett fell but Curran and Ervine continued the good work. Curran was the star with the bat with a fine maiden century and Ervine batted really well too. The two ensured there were no more wickets to fall and took their side over the line.
