3 days, 3 double headers. All teams have played 2 matches each. Trinbago Knight Riders jump to the top of the points table. We deservedly need a break but shall be back in a day. The action resumes on Saturday, 22nd August, 2020 from 10 am local (1400 GMT) as the Patriots take on the Zouks, followed by the Warriors-Tallawahs clash. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
Kieron Pollard is mighty pleased. Is happy with the way the opening bowlers set the tone and then the spinners following it up. Praises his bowlers for restricting the Tallawahs to 135. On Jayden Seales, Pollard says that he is young and they are trying to protect him. Stresses that he did not want to give him the death overs but just gave here to check how he does in pressure situations. Further says that he was not to be given the new ball either but seeing Ali Khan swing the ball, Polly thought to try Seales out. On Sunil Narine's innings, KP is proud of the way he continues to be important for the side but stresses on Munro's knock as well, not throwing his wicket and sticking till the end to complete the job.
Jamaica Tallawahs skipper, Rovman Powell, feels that losing early wickets while batting has been their problem of low scores. Wants his side to arrest that. Says that the wicket was a bit sticky. On a possible injury to Andre Russell, Powell says that he is fine. Rues the fielding and catching lapses but insists that the self-belief is still there.
Awaiting the captains now...
SUNIL NARINE HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. On being asked about finding form immediately after lockdown, Narine says that this is just the start of the tournament. So he wants to build on this and try and do well for long. On being asked about possible revival memories of the 2018 season, Narine hopes it turns out to be that way. Admits that they are missing the fans and it is they who drive the players.
Earlier, in the first innings, a disciplined bowling performance from the Trinbago Knight Riders kept the Tallawahs to a modest 135. Only Glenn Phillips played an innings of substance. Surprisingly, in a game hit by wet ball, wet ground and dew, the spinners made merry. Narine, Fawad, Mujeeb and Lamichhane had combined figures of 15-1-80-4 across both innings.
The Tallawahs were in the game for just the 4 overs. There were a couple of chances put down but don't think they would have mattered. Questions to Rovman Powell on the decision to give Ramaal Lewis the 5th over, which changed the momentum. Edwards and Mujeeb were exemplary.
The start was good by the Tallawahs though. Fidel Edwards found some swing and kept the Knight Riders quiet. Lendl Simmons departed as well but after that, it was the Sunil Narine show. His 53 from 38 balls allowed Munro to bide his time and find his feet, in a stand of 75. The Kiwi then took over later on, opening his shoulders, staying unbeaten on 49.
A one-sided game. In a ground hit by rain, you could possibly imagine Kieron Pollard winning the game at the toss itself. With the dew settling in, it became almost impossible for the bowlers to do well in the night.

OUT! CAUGHT! Collision, confusion but eventually taken! Well, Mujeeb and Phillips are smiling now, but this could have been messy. Full and outside off, Bravo looks to play the slog sweep but gets a top edge. The ball goes to the leg side and both, keeper Glenn Phillips and bowler Mujeeb go for it. Phillips has his eyes set on the ball and dives but Mujeeb too, keeps his eyes on the ball. Catches it cleanly, just about averting the collision. Importance of communication in the field. OUT! CAUGHT! The first one is down early for the Knight Riders. Simmons got done in by pace by the looks of it. A length ball, outside off, Lendl looks to pull but the ball skids off the deck. Interesting footwork. Simmons charges out first ball, then walks across and plays this outswinging full toss towards cover.
The umpires are slowly making their way out to the middle. The roping of the outfield is still being done, to get rid of the dampness. The Tallawahs get into a really long huddle. Now, come the Trinbago openers, Lendl Simmons and Sunil Narine. Dre Russ is already into the ears of Narine, sledging him and there is a banter going on. Fidel Edwards comes charging up with the ball. Simmons to face.
Modest lad, aye? 136 to win for his team. Should not be much of a problem for a side with the likes of Simmons, Narine, Munro, Bravos, Pollard and Seifert. Jeez, that is way too many! Stay tuned...
Jayden Seales is giving an interview. He is happy with his outing tonight. On not showing any nerves, Seales says that he was just looking to enjoy himself. Admits that the ball did get wet initially but once it was changed, it got easier for him. On his family watching him, Jayden says that they are extremely proud of him, watching him now on television. On the advice given to him by his father, he says that the senior Seales just asks him to be consistent in what he is doing and work hard.
The pitch looks a bit two-paced but thanks to the wet outfield, the bowlers will find it tough to bowl. The Knight Riders were excellent even with the wet ball. Can the Tallawahs match that and make this a decent contest?
The bowlers set the tone right at the start, with Ali Khan and Jayden Seales keeping it very tight. Then the duo of Sunil Narine and Fawad Ahmed tightened the noose in the middle overs, which meant that the Tallawahs never really got going. There was a little bit of an attack from Phillips in the 13th over but nothing much after that.
A moderate score at best. Glenn Phillips was the highlight of the innings, staging decent partnerships with Asif Ali and Andre Russell but once the Kiwi got out, there was never that final push. The Knight Riders will be very happy.

What he does not see is Ramaal Lewis charging towards him like a raging bull. Both batsmen are at the same end when Fawad underarms the throw to the bowler as he dislodges the bails. It is referred upstairs and replays show that Lewis had crossed Edwards when the run out was effected.
Someone is out. Who is it? Both batsmen are at the same end. Fidel Edwards is the goner.

He mistimes it towards long off where Colin Munro comes charging in and dives to take a clean catch. Wicket number 499 for Bravo in T20s and 99 in the CPL!

Goodness me, Ali Khan, thank your stars that you are alive! That is a bowler-killer. A savage shot from Ramaal Lewis. Full and outside off, Lewis backs away and then smashes the bones out of that. The ball rockets straight back towards the head of Ali Khan who just about gets his reflexes in time. His hands come out to protect his face and he parries it to long off. The batsmen take a single but everyone is worried about the bowler, rushing towards him. He gets up and says that he is okay. Phew. Just 4 from the over.

.
Another slower ball. Full and around leg, Ramaal walks across, looks to paddle but is done in by the lack of pace. Gets a leading edge which lobs in the air. Tim Seifert, the keeper, charges in for the catch, but the ball lands in front of him.
17.4
.
Excellent from Ali Khan again. With all this moisture in the outfield, the ball getting damp, the control has been terrific. Slower ball, fuller in length, Ramaal swings hard, but early. Gets a thick inside edge onto his pads. The ball rolls to the off side and Lewis wants a single but is sent back. The bowler himself goes after the ball and under-arms a shy at the striker's end. Hits the stumps but Lewis is well in.

OUT! CAUGHT! The set man departs and the young Seales is elated. Full and down the leg side, Phillips looks to flick and to be fair, he does time it well. But he has hit it to the longer part of the ground. As a result, just timing is not enough. Power is needed, which ain't there. Darren Bravo is stationed for this, at deep square leg. Nearly makes a meal of it, going really low to take the skier but takes it in the end. Phillips departs for a well-made 58 from 42 balls, binding the Jamaican innings together.

Jamaica Tallawahs skipper, Rovman Powell, is happy. Because he believes that to win, you need to bat and bowl well. Informs that they have thought long and hard about the team strategy, hence, Ramaal Lewis comes in for Veersammy Permaul, making it a left-arm spinner for a left-arm spinner while Oshane Thomas misses out for Fidel Edwards as the latter knows these conditions. Praises Asif Ali for adjusting to the pitch in their previous game.

Informs that Sikandar Raza misses out for Khary Pierre, stressing it as a tactical change.
