Right then, that's all from this game. The Pakistan Super League 2023 action continues on Tuesday, 7th of March with a doubleheader. The first game of the day sees Peshawar Zalmi take on Lahore Qalandars and it will begin at 2.30 pm IST (9.00 am GMT). That game will be followed by Islamabad United taking on Multan Sultans and it will begin at 7.30 pm IST (2.00 pm GMT). Until then, take care and goodbye!
Martin Guptill is the Player of the Match for his match-winning knock of 86 runs from 56 balls.
With not a huge total to defend, Karachi Kings needed some early wickets and they did just that by striking twice in the Powerplay. They kept the pressure on the opposition batters picking wickets at regular intervals. Having reduced Quetta Gladiators to 63-5, Karachi Kings seemed to have had a firm grip on the game. But, they allowed the opposition to come back into the game and let it slip from a winning position. Earlier in the game, after being asked to bat first, Karachi Kings were off to a poor start losing Matthew Wade on the very first ball of the game. Adam Rossington stood strong despite losing wickets at the other end and played a fine knock of 69 runs. Towards the end, Imad Wasim and Aamer Yamin played quickfire knocks to help Karachi Kings finish on a competitive total. In the second half, their bowlers did put up a fight but it was not enough on the night.
It has been the Martin Guptill show this evening that has helped Quetta Gladiators end their five-match losing streak and secure their second victory of the season. In their pursuit of 165, Quetta Gladiators were off to a decent start despite losing two wickets in the Powerplay. However, they were pegged back in the chase losing three wickets after the Powerplay. With half the side back in the hut, Martin Guptill and Sarfaraz Ahmed got together and resurrected the innings with a 95-run stand. Guptill was the aggressor of the two batters stroking an unbeaten 56-ball 86. Playing in his first game of the season, Dwaine Pretorius walked in the final over and got his side over the line with a ball to spare.
