Right then, that is it from this game and from the Chattogram leg as well. A couple of days break and then the action in the Bangladesh Premier League 2024/25 moves to Dhaka. We have a double header on 26th January, Sunday. In the afternoon, Sylhet Strikers will be back in action against Fortune Barishal at 1 pm IST (7.30 am GMT). In the evening, it will be a big clash between Rangpur Riders and Durbar Rajshahi at 6 pm IST (12.30 pm GMT). But as you know, you can always join us early for all the build-up to both matches. Until then, cheers and goodbye!
Mehidy Hasan is PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his impressive 70 runs. He says that it was an excellent match, and they were worried about the chasing, but he is happy that they have done it. Adds that they were excited playing here and it was an important match to go in the top four. Mentions that they didn’t win in those last matches, but the team played well. Says that they want to come back in this season and hopes to win it for his team.
Ariful Haque, the captain of Sylhet Strikers says that they tried their best but they just could not get over the line. Adds that the top order performed well but the middle order let them down. Mentions that with the start they got, they could have scored 200 runs easily, but they lost wickets at the wrong time. Says that if he and Jaker Ali could have stayed for long, things could have been different as 180-190 is a par score here and 152 was not enough. Ends by saying that they can't afford to lose any more matches and will be looking to win all the remaining games.
Presentation Time...
Sylhet Strikers struggled to strike early with the ball, conceding too many in the Powerplay while their fielding woes added to the pressure. Mohammad Nihaduzzaman provided a glimmer of hope in the middle overs, dismissing both set batters, with Sumon Khan and Samiullah Shinwari chipping in to keep the game alive. Reece Topley bowled a brilliant final over to take it down to the wire, but Khulna Tigers always seemed in control and sealed a well-deserved victory, leaving Sylhet on the wrong side of the result.
Earlier in the game, Sylhet Strikers posted a competitive total, anchored by George Munsey's classy half-century and a solid knock from Zakir Hasan. The duo looked promising but fell at crucial moments, and with no partnerships to back them up - only one other batter reaching double digits - it summed up their struggles. Khulna Tigers's bowlers were outstanding, with Abu Hider, Salman Irshad, and Hasan Mahmud sharing six wickets evenly, while the rest chipped in brilliantly to keep Sylhet in check.
Khulna Tigers' chase was set ablaze by skipper Mehidy Hasan, who led from the front with a brilliant 70 off 50, supported by Mohammad Naim's steady start. Despite losing wickets in the middle, Mehidy's fantastic fifty kept the Tigers on course. Mahidul Islam Ankon's cameo added momentum, but it was the Aussie duo of Alex Ross and William Bosisto who sealed the deal. With 3 needed off 2, Bosisto clinched victory in style, smashing a six to cap off a brilliant chase!
Khulna Tigers pulled off a fine victory, holding their nerve in the final over! With this win, they climb to fourth on the table and strengthen their grip towards a playoff spot. This is also their first successful chase this season which ticks another box for them. Sylhet Strikers remain at the bottom, but they can take heart from their spirited fight, pushing the game to the very last over.

Alex Ross has already left his crease and then runs back to come in as Reece Topley collects the ball in his follow-through. 3 needed in 2 now. It is going down to the wire.
