Right then, that is it from this exciting encounter where Sylhet Strikers just edge past Khulna Tigers. The action continues in the Bangladesh Premier League 2024/25 as Durbar Rajshahi takes on Dhaka Capitals in the second game of the night. That will begin shortly, but you can just switch tabs to enjoy our build-up to that match. Cheers!
Ariful Haque, the victorious skipper of Sylhet Strikers, says it is lovely to see the crowd support them so much even after losing their first three games. Adds that it was a great effort from the batters to get to 182 after a slow Powerplay. Mentions that he is very proud of his team for the way they have bounced back. Credits his bowlers for defending the target, as it was not easy to control the ball towards the end.
Zakir Hasan is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his excellent knock of 75 off 46. He says that he and Rony Talukdar took their time as the wicket was slow early on. Adds that they did not get a good start and that's why they wanted to take things deep and then attack in the latter overs. Mentions that he is very happy with his performance and also praises Aaron Jones and Ariful Haque for playing those crucial cameos towards the end that gave them the advantage.
Mehidy Hasan, the captain of Khulna Tigers says that it was an excellent match to be a part of. Mentions that they played very well until the Powerplay but didn't do well in the middle overs. Adds that it was an excellent wicket to bat on but the new ball skidded on. Further mentions that the new ball slightly took its time to come onto the bat, but once it got old, it came on pretty well.
Presentation Time...
Sylhet Strikers got off to a strong start with Nahidul Islam striking early to set the tone. Reece Topley and Tanzim Hasan Sakib followed up with a wicket each, keeping the pressure on. The bowlers continued to make inroads during the middle overs, with Topley adding another to his tally and Ruyel Miah chipping in as well. However, they faced some heavy hitting later on, but Tanzim came back to claim the crucial wicket of Mohammad Nawaz. Despite that, he conceded 15 runs in the penultimate over, leaving 18 to defend in the final over. The responsibility fell to young Ruyel Miah, who kept his composure under immense pressure to guide his team to a thrilling victory.
Earlier in the game, after the lowest Powerplay score in the season, Sylhet Strikers put up an impressive total, thanks to a magnificent 106-run partnership between Zakir Hasan and Rony Talukdar. Both batters notched up fifties, with Zakir remaining unbeaten on a brilliant 75 off 46 balls. Aaron Jones and Ariful Haque added quick-fire cameos to boost the total. On the bowling front, Abu Hider and Ziaur Rahman picked up two wickets each, while Nasum Ahmed chipped in with one. However, skipper Mehidy Hasan had an off day, conceding heavily.
The visitors seemed out of the contest, but Mohammad Nawaz had other plans. He came in and unleashed a flurry of big hits, shifting the momentum back in his team's favor. Nawaz brought the equation down to 53 off 24 balls before falling after a blistering 33 off just 18 deliveries. Mahidul Islam Ankon (28 off 16) and Ziaur Rahman (14 off 6) fought valiantly in the end, but their efforts fell just 8 runs short.
Khulna Tigers got off to a shaky start, losing three wickets within the Powerplay. William Bosisto anchored one end but found it tough to accelerate, while a quick cameo from Darwish Rasooli kept them within reach of the required rate. Skipper Mehidy Hasan and Bosisto worked to stabilize the innings, but Mehidy fell while trying to up the tempo, and Bosisto followed soon after with a labored 43 off 40 balls, leaving KT in trouble at 98/5.
SYLHET STRIKERS SNATCH A THRILLING WIN! The home crowd is electric, and it’s their young local star, Ruyel Miah, who has stolen the show. Bowling the final over under pressure is no easy task, but he held his nerve brilliantly to secure a second consecutive victory for the hosts.

Just the one to end! It is Sylhet Strikers who come out on top. On middle. This is hit down to long on for one.
Hasan Mahmud is the last man in.
OUT! RUN OUT! A full toss on middle. Nasum drives it straight back to the bowler. Mahidul is off. Nasum too starts running but the two do not cross before the bowler runs back and takes the bails off.

Nasum Ahmed is the next batter in. He has full license to go here as he needs to hit two sixes, or one six and one four to take the game.
OUT! TAKEN! Miah strikes back! He gets the wicket which probably has won his side the game. A slower one, well outside off. Hider looks to go over deep cover but this time holes out to the fielder in the deep. 10 in 2 and the new batter will be on strike.

FOUR MORE! 10 needed now in three balls. Off the outer half. Full and outside off. Hider looks to go over the off side. This goes off the outside edge and clears short third man. This goes to the fence too.
