Man of the Match
Jackson Coleman
Commentry
So, that is it from this game. Melbourne Stars with this win solidify their place at the top of the table. Scorchers with this humiliating loss have gone down from 3rd to 4th. BBL action continues on Thursday as Sydney Sixers welcome the Hobart Hurricanes. That game will begin at 1910 local (0810 GMT). Join us for that one. Till then, goodbye!
For his excellent 3-fer, Jackson Coleman has been awarded the Man of the Match. Coleman says it was a fantastic game and everything went their way. Adds that he has been rehabilitating all this time and wants to make an impact as the team heads towards the business end of the tournament. Further says that it has been a long time since his last game and he is happy to make his comeback in such a positive manner. Ends by saying that Stoinis is hitting the ball really hard at the moment and that is really well for the side.
Earlier in the evening, after opting to bat, Scorchers never got going and only Josh Inglis did something with the bat. The hosts were bowled out for just 86. It was a very good team performance in the field by the Stars with Coleman starring with 3 wickets. Lamichhane had 2 while the trio of Maxwell, Haris Rauf and Coulter-Nile picked one each.
Nothing to talk about Perth Scorchers' bowling. They had nothing to bowl at and defending a super under-par total of 87, they needed more than a miracle which never came. Jhye Richardson was good with the ball as he bowled with pace. Fawad Ahmed and Mitchell Marsh were the two who got into the wickets column. The Scorchers will like to forget this horrible day and move on.
Easily done! Another evening and another easy win for the Stars. They decimated the no.2 side in the previous game and they have done the same with the no. 3 side as well. Chasing an under-par total of 87, Cartwright and Stoinis gave them the start they wanted. The former could not see off the game for his side and Ben Dunk too failed to do the same coming at number 3 but Stoinis stayed there till the end and saw off the game with ease along with Seb Gotch.

Richardson starts with a beauty! Full and swinging away. It is on a driving length around off, Cartwright goes for it but gets beaten.
We are back for the chase! The Perth Scorchers players take the field and are on their way to take their respective positions in the field. Marcus Stoinis and Hilton Cartwright stride out to open the innings for the Stars. Jhye Richardson to start the proceedings with the ball. Early wickets are premium, can Richardson provide that?
So, the target for the Melbourne Stars is a meagre 87 runs and they will be looking to capitalise on it and finish this match as quickly as possible. Stay tuned for the run chase...
The Stars bowlers were superb throughout. They never gave the Scorchers any room to breathe. Jackson Coleman was the star for them as he took 3 wickets while Sandeep Lamichhane also bowled a double-wicket maiden over. Worrall took a brilliant catch at backward point to dismiss Mitchell Marsh and that was a pivotal moment in the game.
The innings started just the way it ended for the Scorchers. They lost their first wicket inside the 2nd over and were 54/3 at the end of the Powerplay. However, after that they lost wickets one after another and they failed to form any partnerships as well. Josh Inglis was the only one who could be given some credit as he played a fine innings of 37 runs.
Superb performance from the Stars! They have completely outplayed the Scorchers in the first half of this game. They look absolutely unstoppable at the moment and it has been another clinical showing and the Stars are shinning brightly on top of everyone else.

OUT! RUN OUT! The second run was never there and Bancroft has paid the price for taking on Stoinis. Things going from bad to worse for the Scorchers. Gotch collects it and disturbs the stumps. Bancroft stretches but does not dive. The Stars players are confident but the square keg umpire takes it upstairs. Bancroft does not wait and starts walking. Replay rolls in and it shows why Bancroft is not hanging back. A struggling knock from Bancroft comes to an end.

OUT! RUN OUT! Brilliant work by Haris Rauf as he dismisses Green. Length ball on off, Green defends this one towards the off side and takes off. Rauf gets to the ball, turns and has a shy at the non-striker's end and hits. The Stars appeal and the umpire refers it upstairs. It looked out to the naked eye and the replays confirm it. Scorchers lose their second wicket and that too inside the Powerplay.
Direct hit and the run out appeal has been taken upstairs. A bullet throw from Rauf and Green looks in trouble.

OUT! Caught! Nathan Coulter-Nile has the last laugh! The dangerous Liam Livingstone is out of here. Marcus Stoinis takes a very good catch. You just cannot keep this man out of the game. He is always doing something. This time Stoinis is involved with his fielding. Back of a length ball on off, Livingstone goes for the pull but does not time it at all. It goes very high in the sky but does not travel the distance. The ball almost gets a part of the sky when it comes down. Marcus Stoinis runs forward from deep mid-wicket and then moves to his left and takes a very good catch tumbling down. Big wicket for the Stars as Livingstone can take the game away.

On traverling, he says it was not ideal but not controllable as well. Informs Morgan comes in and he is a big hiiter and can hit the long ball. On being asked to choose between Maxwell and Stoinis as the most desired wicket, Jhye tells Stoinis will be a big wicket as he is the leading scorer.
