Right then, that wraps up the proceedings for Group D, with Australia finishing at the top of the standings with three wins from as many games. Nepal end their group stage campaign without any points from their three matches, while Bangladesh and Scotland join Australia in advancing to the Super Six stage. Thursday, 23rd January, will see the conclusion of the group stage, where the final standings and the progressing teams from Group A will be decided. In the first game of the day at 2.30 am GMT, Malaysia and West Indies will lock horns with the winner going through to the next round. The skipper of Australia, Lucy Hamilton says that it was good to see Eleanor Larosa and Caoimhe Bray build a good partnership. Adds that Hasrat Gill played well towards the end as well and ends by saying that they will look to carry on with the same momentum.

Earlier, Aussie skipper Lucy Hamilton opted to bat first with the intention of testing their batting unit. However, they were put under early pressure as Puja Mahato ripped through the top order, leaving Australia reeling at 14/3. Caoimhe Bray and Eleanor Larosa then steadied the innings with a crucial 72-run partnership. Both batters fell heading into the death overs, but Hasrat Gill and Chloe Ainsworth provided the finishing touches to help Australia post 139.
With scores of 52 and 73 in their first two games, Nepal faced an uphill battle in the chase. Their innings never really took off, as they struggled to find boundaries and maintain consistent strike rotation. Just three boundaries in Nepal's innings illustrate how tough an outing it was for them with the bat. As far as Australia are concerned, they might feel a bit frustrated that they couldn’t bowl Nepal out, but this innings served more as a test of their resources. Lucy Hamilton used as many as six bowling options, and all of them were disciplined in their execution, which will be a positive takeaway heading into the Super Six stage.
Australia go 3 from 3 to top Group D! A thoroughly professional job with the ball, but they were tested early with the bat and will be pleased with the resilience shown as they head into the next round. With this win, the fate of Group D has been sealed, with Australia progressing as the table-toppers, followed by Bangladesh in 2nd, and Scotland in 3rd, all advancing to the Super Six stage. As for Nepal, they will miss out on a Super Six spot in their maiden Women's U19 T20 World Cup, but they will take away a lot of valuable learnings. It’s all about moving forward from here, both as a team and as individuals.
