That's it then from this game. Don't go anywhere as the Women's Big Bash League Sunday fest continues with more games to come your way. Hope you enjoyed our company as we bring you all the action from the Women's Big Bash League. Till then take care and cheers!
Sophie Devine is named as the Player of the Match but as she has injured herself, Beth Mooney will speak on her behalf. Lets hear it from her then. She starts by saying that it was a brilliant performance from the team. Adds that they bowled well and did well to defend this total of 131. On Sophie Devine's injury, she says that she hopes that it is not that serious and Devine will recover in time before her next game.
Earlier after opting to bat, Perth managed to score 131 courtesy of some top order contribution as their middle and lower middle order failed to cater to the bowling of Sydney Thunder. On the other hand, Sydney Thunder would have thought that it is their game at the half way stage. Their bowling was superb with Hannah Darlington leading from the front with 3 wickets and Samantha Bates scalped a couple too. While Sammy Jo Johnson and Lauren Smith too had a wicket each. Shabnim Ismail despite bowling brilliantly ended up wicketless.
Perth's bowling was spot on as except Piepa Cleary, all their bowlers chipped in with wickets. The pick was Heather Graham who ended with a 3-fer as Bolton and Devine ended with a couple each. Though the latter had to go off the field due to a lower back injury but by then the game was already sealed. Overall a good display in the field sees Perth Scorchers seal a win despite a low total.
Chasing a modest total, Sydney Thunder began their quest for a victory poorly as they lost Tammy Beaumont and Rachael Haynes cheaply. The rest of the batters failed to come to terms with the conditions as they threw their wickets away. The only ray of hope for them was Heather Knight but once she departed then the result was inevitable. In the end, Thunder tasted a loss courtesy their poor batting display.
A comfortable victory in the end for Perth Scorchers. They were just too good for Sydney Thunder today. A sheer all-round show from them.
