That is it from this game! Guyana move to the second position on the points table. We have a double-header on 3rd September, 2020 and it starts with the clash between the Jamaica Tallawahs and the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. It will be followed by the Barbados Tridents against the Guyana Amazon Warriors. Join us at 1000 local (1400 GMT). Till then, take care and cheers!
Chris Green, Guyana Amazon Warriors skipper, says that it was another solid performance from the team. Adds that different guys are coming and stepping up for them. Mentions they were inconsistent at the start but are now picking up at the right time. Praises Hetmyer for his brilliant knock.
Daren Sammy, St Lucia Zouks skipper, says we did not bat well and did not assess the conditions. Adds the conditions were difficult for batsmen to adjust. Mentions they need to dig deep and play better. Sammy also says that his team is in a good position and the team wants a good performance from him.
Shimron Hetmyer is named the Man of the Match. He starts by saying they played their natural game. Adds that he played positively and it worked for him. Mentions that he and Chemar Holder are very good friends. States that they are taking it one game at a time.
Earlier in the day, the Warriors performed really well with the ball as they restricted the Zouks to just 109 in 20 overs. Naveen-ul-Haq and Keemo Paul were the pick of the lot as they scalped up two wickets each. The other bowlers were really efficient as well as Tahir, Sinclair and Shepherd scalped one wicket each. For the Zouks, no one really stepped up to take responsibility as their top score was just 23 runs by Javelle Glen. This was a comprehensive victory for the Warriors, who did everything well, be it with the bat or the ball, adding two more points to their tally and entering the play-offs. Stick around for the presentation ceremony!
The bowling by the Zouks was not bad but when you have just 110 runs to defend, it becomes hard to bowl to perfection. Scott, Nabi and Glen scalped a wicket each but apart from this, they were not as effective as they would have liked to be.
Guyana win this match easily by 7 wickets courtesy of Hetmyer's half-century. Hemraj also supported him scoring 26 before he departed as well. But for the target set up by the Zouks, the batting did not even have to be spectacular, it just had to be effective and it was from the Warriors.
