Today being a Sunday is a double header and switch tabs to reach our coverage of the match between Chennai and Delhi which is taking place in Vizag. Until then, goodbye and cheers!
Mohit Sharma is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his brilliant bowling effort. He says that he keeps things very simple and it is important to use the variations at the right time. Adds that you have to think one step ahead of the batter. Tells that you have to bowl according to your field and play with the mind of the batter. Mentions that dew plays a factor but you have to practise for all conditions. Says that he is enjoying his game, and when things don't go well, he watches the video after the game to improve his skills. Ends by saying that Rashid Khan and the other bowlers pulled things back nicely at the death in the first innings of the match.
Shubman Gill, the victorious skipper of Gujarat says he is happy to win two matches at home and he is pleased with the way his bowlers are delivering in the middle overs. He also says that Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad were exceptional in their jobs. he further praises Mohit Sharma, who executed the slower bounces perfectly. He also says that David Miller finishes the job well and says that he was just suffering from cramps and it is not anything serious.
Pat Cummins, the captain of Hyderabad says that the opposition bowled really well to restrict them. He also says that they expected the ball to move under lights but that did not happen. Sai Sudharsan, the top-scorer for Gujarat says that he is really happy to contribute to the win. He continues that it was a bit difficult to play the fast bowlers and so they decided to take the spinners. He also appreciated the contributions made by Rashid Khan and Mohit Sharma. He ends up saying that he had a wonderful time playing well in front of the home crowd and he wants to continue this performance further into the season.
Earlier in the innings, we saw a good bowling performance by Gujarat. They managed to restrict Hyderabad to a comparatively low score. Abhishek Sharma and Abdul Samad were the highest scorers for the Men in Orange. Mohit Sharma got timely wickets and ended with 3 in his bag. Noor Ahmad, Rashid Khan, Umesh Yadav, and Azmatullah Omarzai got one wicket each. While chasing, it was smooth sail for the home side.
Hyderabad were put under the gun from the start. Their bowlers were attacked until Shahbaz Ahmed gave the opening breakthrough. His spin partner, Mayank Markande followed up soon after with the wicket of the opposition skipper. They kept it quiet in the middle overs but that 24-run over from Markande completely shifted the momentum. Pat Cummins did manage to get the crucial breakthrough in the form of Sai Sudharsan and broke the partnership. However, it was too late and the home team cruised away to victory.
For Gujarat, the opening pair of Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill powered their start to their best. They troubled the Hyderabadi bowlers in the initial phase. The former was dismissed inside the Powerplay, and then Gill steadied things with Sai Sudharsan for a bit. However, just after the first break, the skipper lost his wicket. Then Sudarshan and David Miller built another good partnership and got them closer to the target. Sai accelerated his attack but was dismissed soon after missing out on his half-century, but Miller stayed unbeaten till the end and hit winning runs as well.
A dominating victory for Gujarat! They keep winning at home and prove that they are very tough to defeat on their turf. Hyderabad unfortunately have to suffer a loss after their heroics in the last game. The hosts made this chase look like a cakewalk on a wicket that was a bit tricky.
