That ends the action from this game. But Big Bash action is not done for the night. Sydney Thunder and Brisbane Heat are locked in a battle at the 'Gabba. Head over there to catch that action.
Earlier in the day, a one-man show from Marcus Stoinis, coupled with cameos from Nicholas Pooran and Hilton Cartwright, lifted the Stars to 183/6, with as many as 18 coming in the final over. The Hurricanes needed 21. That is how close the game went. In the end, the Hulk's unbeaten 97 trumped McDermott's 91. Hence, MARCUS STOINIS HAS BEEN NAMED THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH.
A good bowling performance from the Stars. There were a couple of bowlers who went off the boil but the key bowlers stepped up. Adam Zampa kept things tight in the middle while Sam Rainbird held his nerve exceptionally well. Glenn Maxwell too, bowled 3 economical overs which actually could have been the difference. D'Arcy Short went for 24 in his 2 while Both conceded 20 in his 2 for the Hurricanes. In comparison, Maxwell and Cartwright went for 36 in their 4 overs combined, which is not that bad for part-timers.
The run chase seemed like a mirror image of the way the Stars batted. An early wicket, then a couple of partnerships and critically, one set batsman batting deep. Only, in the case of the Hurricanes, McDermott could not quite bat through till the end.
Phew. What a game. The Stars launched a monstrous total while the Hurricanes seemed to be well on course to chase it down. But a couple of good overs towards the end by the Stars got them home. A win after 4 winless games, which includes a no result and a hat-trick of losses.

Outside off, slower ball, swung off a length towards deep mid-wicket for a single.
OUT! Peter Handscomb is run out. Full and outside off, the skipper gets across to paddle but misses and is hit on the pads. The ball has barely gone past the 30-yard circle but Handscomb chances his luck. Hares back for the second but Adam Zampa is too quick for him. He returns a sharp throw to the keeper who whips the bails off. Handscomb dives and it is referred upstairs but replays show that he is well short. 13 needed from 2 balls now.
That looks gone. There is a run out appeal and it is referred upstairs. Yeah, comfortably gone. The match looks to be gone now.

Wide yorker outside off, Peter backs away and looks to go over point, but can only steer the ball straight to point. Hits his pads with his bat in frustration.

OUT! CAUGHT! It is the Spice Man again! Ohhh move your body, baby! Shake it, shake it, shake it! Those are some dance moves. Really cool. Low full toss, wide outside off, McDermott smashes it over cover. It seems like he has got enough but Andre Fletcher rushes to his left this time, at sweeper cover, dives to his left and pouches another stunner! He then sits on his knees and shows off his dance moves again. McDermott is downcast. Nearly got his team home. But stupendous effort. Take a bow.
