Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium serves as the backdrop for the match between the five-time champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The 100th Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the legendary venue makes this game noteworthy.
Being the site of the 2008 IPL’s first game, this stadium has a unique role in the league’s history.
The Kiwi batsman Brendon McCullum made history in the first match between RCB and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by scoring 158* off just 73 balls and recording the IPL’s maiden century. Unfortunately, a crushing 140-run loss befell the Royal Challengers. The first game, however, set the stage for a number of memorable events that took place here.
Over the 18-year history of the IPL, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium has seen innumerable milestones, performances that broke records, and suspenseful games. Captain MS Dhoni of CSK won the toss and chose to field first in today’s match. Josh Hazlewood was replaced by Lungi Ngidi in RCB’s playing XI substitution.
In their previous meeting in the IPL 2025, RCB defeated CSK by 50 runs because to outstanding bowling from the RCB bowlers, who held the CSK hitters to a minimum, and a spectacular batting performance by captain Rajat Patidar (51 off 32).
Following their elimination from the 2025 IPL, CSK will want to end their campaign strong and gain momentum for the following one. RCB, who have seven victories and are now in third place in the standings, will want to make this historic game unforgettable by winning important games in front of their home audience.
