Former India cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni was greeted with a warm reception upon his arrival in Chennai to join the CSK camp for the forthcoming IPL 2023, which is set to begin on March 31, 2023.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni has not participated in a cricket match since May 2022. After a protracted absence of ten months, he will resume playing competitive cricket. The Chennai Super Kings have already begun IPL preparations. After a long period of inaction, Dhoni will be expected to demonstrate his skill.
Oh Captain, Our Captain! – CSK supporters cannot contain their excitement over Dhoni’s long-awaited comeback.
CSK supporters were unable to contain their joy upon witnessing their beloved captain return to the yellow uniform. Fans anxiously awaited the arrival of their favorite captain, affectionately dubbed “Thala” in Tamil, which means “leader.” The crowd erupted in loud screams and acclaim as the 41-year-old made his way directly from the airport to the team hotel.
The social media accounts of Chennai Super Kings released a photo of Dhoni checking into the team hotel. “Thala Dharisanam, finally!” reads the post’s caption. In addition, they shared a video of Dhoni being warmly welcomed and escorted inside the team hotel. Our Captain, Our Captain!” proclaimed the post’s caption.
Due to the Covid limitations and protocols, Dhoni will be playing his first IPL match in Chennai after a three-year absence. The inaugural match of the IPL 2023 will be played between the Chennai Super Kings and the Gujarat Titans.
It is confirmed that Dhoni will continue to captain the Yellow Army for at least one more season. Back in IPL 2022, Ravindra Jadeja was the first captain of CSK. Nevertheless, the choice appeared to backfire as CSK won only two of their first eight matches, nearly eliminating them from playoff contention.
Notably, midway through the competition, Jadeja returned the leading position to Dhoni. Under Dhoni’s leadership, CSK won only two of their final six matches and finished ninth in the standings. CSK are the second-most successful franchise in the history of the IPL, having won four titles.
