Makarand Waingankar, the CEO of the Baroda Cricket Association and a former cricket official, made a somewhat astonishing statement about India batter Prithvi Shaw. Notably, the hitter has been in poor form, as evidenced in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, failing to play large knocks and frequently being out for pitiful totals.
A strange update on the batter was shared on social media by Makarand Waingankar, who said that after numerous conversations with the county sides, he was able to secure Shaw a contract with Northants.
Makarand Waingankar continued to poke fun at the cricketer by saying that he would prefer to see the most of the talking to be done by his bat as opposed to his social media videos.
With great difficulty I managed to get a county contract for Prithvi Shaw for Northants after speaking to half a dozen counties. I only hope I get to read his on field performance more than off the field videos.

Prithvi Shaw’s county contract for Northants was obtained only after significant effort and after consulting with six different counties. I only wish I could read about his on-field performance rather than watch videos of him off-field, Waingankar wrote on his Twitter account.
Shaw finished the IPL 2023 while playing for the Delhi Capitals with a pitiful 106 runs in eight innings at an appalling average of 13.25. Notably, the batter also received a lot of negative attention since, previous to the lucrative T20 league, he got into a “selfie controversy.”
When the model in Mumbai insisted on taking selfies, the batter got into a verbal altercation with her. The situation deteriorated when baseball bats were used by the accused and other parties to destroy the front and rear of Shaw’s friend’s automobile.
Regarding the county deal, Shaw will represent Northamptonshire in the County Championship games and the national 50-over competition in England. The BCCI has not yet issued a formal statement in this regard but is anticipated to do so in the upcoming weeks.
