The IPL 2024 auction is just a few weeks away, and on December 19 in Dubai, the huge event is scheduled to take place. All 10 teams have been allowed until November 26 to announce their roster of players who have been retained before the big day. As a result, every team is completing their rosters in advance of the upcoming season and exchanging players with other teams. The Delhi Capitals (DC) have reportedly chosen to sever ties with Sarfaraz Khan and Manish Pandey. Notably, Delhi concluded with five victories from 14 games and ten points, good for the second-lowest place on the points table (ninth).
Though Sarfaraz had a Bradman-like run in the local circuit, he has failed to make an impression in the IPL. In four games, the 26-year-old scored just 53 runs at an average of 13.25. He has scored 585 runs at an average of 22.50 and a strike rate of 130.58 in the 50 IPL games he has played, with one fifty to his credit.
Conversely, Manish Pandey averaged 17.78 while scoring 160 runs in ten games.
His notable accomplishments include being the first Indian player to reach 100 in the IPL and amassing 3808 runs at an average of 29.07 from 170 matches, including 122 fifties.
Arani Basu of the Times of India claims that the team wants to purchase fresh talent at the auction rather than swap them for any players from other teams.
A return for Rishabh Pant in the IPL 2024
In the meantime, captain and wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant’s return to the Delhi Capitals will help them in the forthcoming campaign. Pant’s availability for the upcoming season has been verified by DC’s Director of Cricket, Sourav Ganguly.
Although the 26-year-old recently arrived in Kolkata for the Delhi Capitals training camp, he did not train with his colleagues during the team’s early season preparations. Notably, Pant has not been active since December 30, 2022, when he survived a horrifying vehicle accident.
