Mark Wood, an excellent pacer, has been sidelined for at least four months because of damage to his left knee ligaments. Although the English cricketer has been dealing with knee pain for some time, things got worse during England’s match against Afghanistan in the ICC Champions Trophy.
He had ligament damage to his knee, which the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) verified after certain scans and surgery corroborated the injury claims. Additionally, the board stated that he will likely miss the beginning of the English summer and possibly a portion of the forthcoming Test series against India, which starts on June 21. Wood will now collaborate with the medical staff to continue his recuperation and rehabilitation.
Naturally, the bowler has been shocked and disappointed to be taking a break from cricket. As a result, he will not be playing any format currently.
After playing all formats for England since the beginning of last year, I’m devastated to be out for so long. But now that I’ve been able to get my knee fixed, I’m quite certain that I’ll be back to my best,” Wood stated via ECB.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the surgeon, the physicians, the staff, my England teammates and coaches, and our supporters in general for their support.” As a team, we are going to have a fantastic 2025, and I am forward to return and contribute to that,” he continued.
Mark Wood plays for which IPL team?
Prior to the 2025 edition of the IPL Mega Auction, the English speedster did not register. There was no mention of him in the final selection of 576 players that the IPL Committee provided. Because of this, he will not be playing for any side in the next round of the lucrative competition. Wood is noteworthy for having previously played for clubs like the Lucknow Super Giants.
