WI vs PAK 2025: Matthew Forde ruled out of ODI team due to dislocated shoulder

Matthew Forde will miss the next three-match one-day international series against Pakistan due to a shoulder dislocation. Forde experienced the setback earlier in the week, while the Caribbean team was practicing fielding and catching drills as usual.

Johann Layne, a pace bowling all-rounder from the West Indian Cricket Academy, has been appointed Forde’s replacement. The 21-year-old is one of the quicks who have impressed Ian Bishop, who previously described him as “rangy, tall, and intelligent.”

The West Indies will also miss Forde’s lower-order willow expertise. He shares the record for the fastest fifty up to the time of writing. The 16-ball half-century occurred in a 50-over match versus Ireland in May of this year.

Alzarri Joseph has been rested on the basis of workload management concerns for the spearhead pace bowler. As a result, Romario Shepherd has been chosen to fill Joseph’s void. Jayden Seales, Shamar Joseph, Romario Shepherd and Jediah Blades are the other pacers in the hosts’ artillery.

The Windies would be aiming at moving forward from the 1-2 loss to Pakistan in the T20I series. They will be aiming at claiming a fourth-consecutive ODI series win. As far as ODIs are concerned, the Men in Maroon have beaten England twice (2-1 on both instances) and Bangladesh once (3-0) since the start of 2023.
