The latest developments indicate that the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has mandated that the Mumbai players participate in the T20 Mumbai league. The regional T20 event, which will take place after the IPL this season and in which players like Shardul Thakur, Shreyas Iyer, and Prithvi Shaw have been asked to register, may feature some of the top cricketers from the Mumbai domestic team.
The T20 Mumbai League will take place immediately following the global franchise competition, thus even if the IPL league stage is nearly over, the T20 craze won’t go away. All of Mumbai’s top players, including Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur, Prithvi Shaw, and Shivam Dube, will compete in the competition, the MCA has stated, unless they are on national service.
The T20 Mumbai League, which will start after the IPL, is a must for all Indian players in Mumbai. It’s required, unless someone has an injury or India commitment, in which case they can skip,” an
MCA official stated, as reported by The Indian Express.
In addition to receiving a separate payment of 15 lakh from the association as a participation fee, Indian participants would also receive income from the auction prices. Along with other aspects, we are working on the base price,” the source continued.
Furthermore, it is anticipated that Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai-born captain of India’s two-format team, will be appointed the “Face of the League” in order to popularise the home competition. There are still questions, though, over whether the league’s top batter will play or captain a team.
There were 2800 participants in the tournament.
As of right now, the Mumbai T20 league appears to be doing very well, and even MCA secretary Abhay Hadap has praised the tournament. According to Hadap, there has been a tremendous amount of interest in the third season, and 2800 players have signed up for the competition.
Season 3 of the T20 Mumbai League has received an incredible amount of response. More than 2800 players have signed up, which is a testament to the league’s appeal and Mumbaikars’ unwavering love for cricket. We are ecstatic to witness such passionate involvement and are dedicated to fostering the next wave of cricket talent,” Hadap added in his statement.
