The SA20’s 2025 edition will commence on Thursday, January 9. The mixture of participants in this edition—both seasoned veterans and up-and-coming talents—makes it sure to be an action-packed event.
The Paarl Royals’ captain, David Miller, appeared prepared for the competition. He revealed that having players like Joe Root and Dinesh Karthik on his team thrilled him. Speaking ahead of their campaign, he also said he was sure his team was ready.
Getting to use more seasoned guys like Joe Root and Dinesh Karthik is really exciting for me.
Overall, though, the lads are training quite effectively. We have a golf outing later this afternoon, so I assume things will go smoothly. However, the preparation is proceeding smoothly, as Miller stated in an interview with Star Sports, “I believe the warm-up game was yesterday, the day before, and tomorrow as well.”
For those who are unaware, Karthik, who just announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League and international cricket, will be appearing as a brand ambassador and player. Moreover, Root will be participating in his first SA20 campaign.
There are some talented young players who have emerged: David Miller.
Additionally, the left-handed South African batter expressed his excitement about working with Trevor Penny, the head coach of the Royals and a former English domestic legend.
“I believe that this year has brought in a number of fresh talent, including some talented young athletes. They are incredibly talented, and we are thrilled to have them. Trevor Penny is a new coach as well. He has four passports: Australia, England, Canada, and Zimbabwe, so he has a lot of travel experience. He has coached and played all over the world for a long time, so it’s great to have him in the setup as well,” Miller added.
