In Match 23 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on April 9, Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by a commanding 58 runs, extending their winning streak in the ongoing IPL 2025. They moved up to the top of the points standings after winning four straight games.
The in-form Sai Sudharsan once again provided the innings’ anchor with an 82 off 53 balls as the Gujarat Titans, who were asked to bat first, scored 217/6 in their allocated 20 overs. Jos Buttler (36 off 25) and M Shahrukh Khan (36 off 20) provided Sudharsan with strong assistance despite the early loss of skipper Shubman Gill to Jofra Archer. Both players helped to maintain the scoring pace throughout the middle overs.
Rahul Tewatia (24* off 12) and Rashid Khan (12 off 4) gave the 2022 winners’ innings further impetus in the closing overs, ensuring the team easily reached the 200-run milestone. Even though they took wickets, Rajasthan’s bowlers had trouble controlling the runs. Despite taking two wickets each, Maheesh Theekshana and Tushar Deshpande each let up more than 50 runs. Archer bowled four overs at a cost-effective rate of 1/30.
After Nitish Rana and Yashasvi Jaiswal left within the first three overs, the Royals’ chase got off to a bad start. There was some hope thanks to a 56-run partnership between Sanju Samson (41 off 28) and Shimron Hetmyer (52 off 32), but the team was defeated by frequent wickets at the critical moment.
The best bowler was Prasidh Krishna, who finished with statistics of 3/24. The core of RR’s pursuit was broken by his vital wickets, which included those of Samson and Hetmyer. Sai Kishore (2/11) and Rashid Khan (2/37) also contributed a couple wickets. In 19.2 overs, the Royals were ultimately bowled out for 159.

Like he says, “I will hit a six on ball one if I have to for my team”
With that mentality, there will be highs, and sometimes the lows too. No problem.
Captain’s knock, Captain. Respect!
