At the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) lost for the fourth time in a row on Sunday, April 6, this time to Gujarat Titans (GT), continuing their terrible IPL 2025 run. With two points and a negative NRR of 1.629, the Orange Army is currently mired at the bottom of the standings.
SRH was asked to bat first, but they struggled right away and never really recovered. Both openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma were removed during the powerplay as Mohammed Siraj swept through the top order with a spell of 4 for 17. After then, SRH failed to hit a boundary for 36 balls and only cleared the ropes for the first time in the 13th over. Heinrich Klaasen (27) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (31) attempted a quick stand to save the innings, but Hyderabad’s middle order collapse kept them behind. Pat Cummins’ late appearance (22* off 9) assisted SRH in posting 152/8.
The Gujarat Titans had an early concern in response. Both Jos Buttler and Sai Sudharsan were removed during the powerplay; Buttler was dismissed for a duck after Mohammed Shami and Cummins took rapid turns. However, Washington Sundar came through with a 49 off just 29 balls just as SRH was about to take advantage.
With his greatest IPL score to date, Sundar relieved captain Shubman Gill of some of the load as he led the pursuit with an undefeated 61 off 43 balls. GT won the match thanks to the pair’s 90-run partnership for the third wicket. With 20 balls remaining, Sherfane Rutherford’s fast undefeated run helped GT easily win. The Gujarat Titans have now won three straight games with this triumph. Because of his bowling prowess, Siraj was named Player of the Match.
