In the 29th game between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Delhi Capitals (DC), Tilak Varma’s brilliant stroke play helped MI score a respectable 205 runs.
Following the dismissal of DC captain Axar Patel in the second innings, Tristan Stubbs entered the game. The MI camp made a tactical play in response to the batter’s entry because he is known to feel more at ease against pace. From the dugout, senior batsman Rohit Sharma and head coach Mahela Jayawardene signalled for a spin option while.
Tristan Stubbs was at the crease. The choice paid off when Karn Sharma entered the attack for the fourteenth over.
Karn’s delivery full on middle on the third ball of the over gave it plenty of air and enticed Stubbs to take a huge shot. Despite his best efforts, the South African batsman was only able to get a top edge as the ball flew far into the air. At long-on, Naman Dhir sprinted a few meters and made a straightforward catch. It was an important wicket for MI at a critical juncture in the match.

With Tilak Varma leading the way with 59 off 33 balls, MI established a solid foundation in the first innings. Additionally, Ryan Rickelton, Suryakumar Yadav, and Naman Dhir contributed. Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam each took two wickets for DC.
After hitting a scorching 89 off just 40 deliveries, including 12 fours and five sixes, Karun Nair gave DC the early lead in the chase. But the DC batting order was held in check by MI’s spin combination of Mitchell Santner (4-0-43-2) and Karn Sharma (4-0-36-3), which swung the balance in MI’s favour.
