Michael Clarke commended RCB for chasing a total of 228 against LSG in the 70th and last league stage match of the IPL 2025 to qualify for Qualifier One. The former Australian captain felt that RCB as a team believed they could complete the task, despite a minor setback at one stage in their innings when a win was critical.
The Jiostar analyst highlighted that RCB did not have Tim David for the match against LSG at the Ekana Stadium, despite him being one of their finest players in the 18th season of the league. Clarke applauded Jitesh Sharma and Mayank Agarwal for persevering even after Virat Kohli, who looked fantastic in the middle, was out.
“What we saw with this RCB batting unit is that they believe they can win from any situation. They didn’t even have Tim David, who’s been key at the back end. But they just believe. The way they played their shots and kept the intent even after Virat got out was amazing,” Clarke said on Kuhl Fans Match Centre Live on JioHotstar.
Virat Kohli, Jitesh Sharma, and Mayank Agarwal play for RCB against LSG in the run chase.
RCB gained much-needed momentum heading into the IPL 2025 playoffs, chasing their best total in IPL history and the third highest for a club in league history. Jitesh led from the start with his incredible undefeated 85*(33).
Virat was a big player for RCB, scoring 54 (30) to help his team get off to a solid start. Mayank Agarwal was an unsung hero who finished unbeaten on 41*(23), forming key partnerships with Virat and Jitesh in the huge run chase.
RCB will face Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1 on May 29 at Mullanpur, the former’s home stadium. Both RCB and PBKS have strong teams and momentum, so this might be a close game. In addition, RCB has yet to lose an away match in the IPL 2025.
