The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have suffered their first five-match losing streak in IPL history. But batting coach Michael Hussey remains optimistic about CSK’s return and tournament playoff qualification.
Michael Hussey discussed the necessity of making apologies after admitting to his batting failure.
At home on April 11, the Chennai-based team fell to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by eight wickets in their fifth match.
After losing three games at home this season, the Super Kings, who were formerly regarded as the most powerful team in the championship, have lost their zeal and drive. The hitters are the primary problem this time. In the second innings, none of them have been able to chase or score runs.
“At this point, the momentum is definitely not on our side at all. We haven’t been regularly playing good cricket. We firmly accept that, raise our hands, and declare it to be the current reality. This is not to argue, however, that things cannot and will not improve rapidly. Therefore, that’s what we’re still aiming for and what we’re putting a lot of effort into,” Hussey told reporters following CSK’s loss to KKR.
“And if we can reverse that trend, generate some confidence, and record a few victories, the confidence will increase and you never know.” When it comes time for the playoffs, we might be able to squeeze into one of those final spots in the table. We also have a long way to go, and we must definitely turn things around. We still think we can accomplish that, though,” Hussey continued.
Five of the eight games left for CSK are away games. For them to qualify for the playoffs, they must win seven or more games.
