Nearing the Champions Trophy 2025, the majority of the teams have already been revealed for the forthcoming ICC competition. In the competition, which will be co-hosted by the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan, the top eight teams will face off starting on February 19.
Many dramas have previously surrounded the Champions Trophy, and this time the Australian team has been in the news because their top all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out because of dysfunction and lower back pain. Marsh, who has been a vital member of the team and gives the squad a great deal of depth with his batsmanship and ball skills, has suffered a serious setback.
Marsh was disqualified from the competition by the Australian men’s medical team and the National Selection Panel due to an injury that has not improved enough with treatment. Marsh’s lower back condition worsened in recent weeks, so the NSP decided to give him a lengthier rehabilitation period,” stated a statement issued by Cricket Australia on Friday, January 31.
“As part of his strategy to return to play, Marsh will now go through a period of additional rest and rehabilitation. Marsh’s replacement will be decided at a later meeting of the NSP. The final squads for the ICC Men’s Champion’s Trophy must be assembled by Wednesday, February 12 at the latest,” it stated.
