Mithun Manhas, an assistant coach for the Gujarat Titans, said that the team management helped young bowler Yash Dayal get over the trauma of his game against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Dayal was really upset after the game because he couldn’t stop 29 runs in the last over. In the last over of the match, Rinku Singh hit the left-arm bowler for five sixes in a row to reach the goal of 205 runs.
Since then, the 25-year-old hasn’t had a chance to play in the starting 11, and he hasn’t even been picked to be on the bench. So, it made a lot of people wonder about his place in the team, even though the team management had stood by him after the disappointing final over against KKR. When Hardik Pandya, the captain of GT, was asked about Dayal’s absence, he said that the left-arm spinner lost weight after getting sick after the KKR game.
Last but not least, the assistant coach, Mithun Manhas, gave a speech about what the team management had done to help the pacer. He said that the way the players were trained was like how a flower is cared for. He even said that for the two months of the IPL, the whole team is like a family, and if there is openness, the players will be able to talk about their problems more easily, which will make it easier to help them.
“The surroundings has a direct effect on a player. You need to take care of him. I liken it to a flower. You don’t just pick the flower and throw it away if something is wrong with it. You have to care for it, just like you have to take care of the boys’ bodies and minds. For two months, you are like a family. If you know them and they believe you, they will tell you everything. Then it’s easy to take care of them,” Mithun Manhas said in a press conference after the game, as India Today reported.
We only want Hardik to be in perfect shape for the match: Mithun Manhas
When asked why Hardik Pandya didn’t bowl against Mumbai Indians last week or against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last home game, GT’s assistant coach said that the team has many bowlers and the team management wanted to give Pandya a break before big games.
“Hardik is mostly fine. We still have the freedom to let him rest, which is why he isn’t bowling. If not, he would have struck out. He’s mostly fine, and all we want is for him to be 100% fit. He’s just buying himself a little more time,” Mithun Manhas said.
