Travis Head, the top batsman for Australia, was bowled for a duck in the first innings of the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) after scoring two significant hundreds in the final two games of the series, leaving the Indian camp feeling festive.
Since Head did not try a shot and saw his stumps becoming rattled in the end, Jasprit Bumrah’s inswinger, which came back from way outside off stump, was the catalyst for the breakthrough. The 31-year-old pacer helped India gain some respite from the day, which was still heavily skewed in favour of the Australians, by finishing the day with figures of 3/75 in his 21 overs.
